JTI brings dance to TIFF.24 with a film inspired by Ravel's Boléro.

As every year, JTI brings dance to the Transilvania International Film Festival (June 13–22, 2025) with events dedicated to and inspired by dance. On June 16, at 6:30 PM, a special screening of the film Boléro (directed by Anne Fontaine) will take place at the Student Culture House, marking the 150th anniversary of Maurice Ravel’s birth.

The film tells the story behind Ravel’s iconic musical creation, composed at the request of dancer Ida Rubinstein, who was seeking someone to write the music for her next ballet. Thus was born Boléro, one of the most beloved musical scores in history.

Throughout TIFF.24, visitors will also be able to experience LUVsLUV, a performative installation filmed in virtual reality, created by Gigi Căciuleanu, in the foyer of the Student Culture House.

Four characters—dansactors from the "Gigi Căciuleanu Romania Dance Company"—perform in four timeless spaces: A COUPLE (Lelia Marcu-Vladu and Bogdan Iacob), SHE (Ana Iacob), and HE (Lari Giorgescu). Remarkable for its expressive power, Gigi Căciuleanu’s performance is a tender exploration of human passions.

"a SHE and a HE / a HE or a SHE
a SHE without HE / a HE without SHE...
...We all pass through the passing years
Carrying in our hearts and minds
Like in a mirror that lies
The tale of the eternal apple...
...Because in the end, love is
A weaving of solitudes into the same story..."
