The 30th edition of Astra Film Festival will take place between the 15th and the 22nd of October 2023.
Now also an international reference, the festival is an exceptional cultural event, being a member of the European festivals family (EFFE), with a solid reputation, built on the originality and high valor of its programs. For three decades, Sibiu has been the bounding place for European and international cinematography, attracting hundreds of professionals from the cinematographic industry and thousands of documentary enthusiasts.
This year, Astra Film has a program full of exciting documentary productions from all over the world, that compete for the awards offered by the festival or that are part of special programs, all on themes that are tied to the present realities of the world. Students of all ages, accompanied by their teachers, are expected to participate at Astra Film Junior, the program that educates through documentaries, unique in Romania, that records every year impressive numbers of participants. And what really transforms it in a unique festival is the presence in Sibiu of the cinema of the future. A schedule of movies played in the full-dome cinema, in a 360 ° format, and the immersive projection series are waiting for you at Astra Film New Media. In addition to the programme, we propose a series of special events: exhibitions, concerts, workshops and masterclasses.
During the festival there are presented hundreds of events: projections, Q&As and debates with the directors, producers and, in some cases, with the characters of the movie, meetings with important names in the cinematography, special programs for cinema lovers, international networking, releases, national and international premiers. On Saturday night, the 21st of October, will take place the Awards Gala, which will reunite the personalities in the festival, in an original visual show, in the exceptional ambiance of Thalia Hall, in Sibiu.
Alexandru Tomescu este un violonist român, câștigător al numeroase premii naționale și internaționale la festivalurile de muzică clasică. De la debutul său din 1985, a susținut peste 200 de concerte și recitaluri în 26 de țări (Franța, Olanda, Japonia). Pentru măiestria lui, i-a fost acordat de către statul român privilegiul de a cânta pe vioara Stradivarius care fusese anterior în posesia muzicianului Ion Voicu.
